Attorney Jon Silverman brings more than 30 years of family, civil, and criminal law experience to Wilson, Reives, Silverman & Doran. He has successfully defended more than 15 capital murder cases, as well as represented clients before the NC Appellate Courts. His passion for providing high quality legal representation to everyday people continues to be one of his guiding principles.
Mr. Silverman was born in Newark, New Jersey. He received his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in History from Rutgers University in 1980. By 1985, he obtained his Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. During law school, he clerked for a Sanford attorney, which ultimately brought him to live and work in Lee County.

Early in his law career, Attorney Jon Silverman served as an Assistant District Attorney in the 11th Judicial District in Lee, Harnett, and Johnston Counties here in North Carolina. During this time, he amassed a wealth of knowledge that would later equip him to successfully defend over 15 capital murder cases and people charged with other serious crimes.
Mr. Silverman’s commitment to integrity and compassion for everyday people facing legal challenges has fueled his career. For more than three decades, he has provided high quality legal representation to clients throughout the Central Carolina region. He understands how to navigate the legal system to protect and defend clients facing criminal charges and possesses hands-on experience to zealously defend them. His experience in civil law includes contract, business, and residential disputes.
In 1990, Silverman began honing his skills in family law as a partner in Staton, Doster, Post & Silverman. During his 25-year tenure, the firm grew exponentially and Jon solidified his reputation for providing vigorous, committed legal representation to clients facing divorce and child custody issues. Through focused attention to detail and developing strong client relationships, Mr. Silverman walks clients through one of the most challenging times of their lives with diligence and expertise only acquired through being a battle-tested attorney. He tackles the tough issues of alimony, child support, and child custody with determination and agility to best position his clients for their future.
Jon Silverman served as a member of the Lee County Board of Elections for three years. Through the years, he has also coached many youth basketball, soccer, baseball, and football teams. Mr. Silverman’s two sons were raised and educated in the Lee County public schools. Mr. Silverman has been an active member of the Lee County Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.
